Rooted in Community, Driven by Purpose

Founded in 2021, Nawe Zifunze Disabled Association was born to address high unemployment among the disabled community in the uMhlathuze Municipality. We are a 100% Black African-owned NPO—all of whom live with disabilities themselves—ensuring our programs are designed with deep, firsthand understanding.

Our Vision

To become the leading vocational training and economic empowerment hub for disabled persons in KwaZulu-Natal, where every member has dignity, income, and independence.

A Legacy of Empowerment

2021

Born from a Community Need

What began as a community-driven effort to address unemployment among disabled persons in Mzingazi Village has grown into a multi-program NPO transforming lives across the uMhlathuze Municipality.

2022

Founded in Mzingazi Village

Registered as NPO 034-263-NPO in 2021, we brought together disabled community members, identified their skills and aspirations, and laid the foundations of our first vocational programs.

2023

Building Vocational Programs

We established three core programs—poultry farming, sewing and textiles, and artisanal beadwork—providing hands-on training and income-generating opportunities to our members.

2025

Expanding Education & Outreach

We added adult life-skills training and youth literacy classes, ensuring that economic empowerment and education go hand in hand for every Nawe Zifunze member.
